Citizenship Community Requirement 4
Mr. Harlan Kimura has arranged a very special event for us. United States District Court Judge Leslie Kobayashi will meet our Scouts, siblings, and Parents in her Courtroom at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 20, 2016. Following that, the U.S. Marshal’s Service will give us a behind the scenes tour of their facilities within the U.S. Courthouse building. The entire event will probably take 90 minutes for transportation planning purposes (i.e. 10:00 – 11:30 am). For those of you working on your Citizenship in the Community Merit Badge, this is an opportunity to satisfy Requirement #4 (please be prepared to ask Judge Kobayashi a question).
We will have a sign-up sheet at our next meeting on December 2. Final sign-up will be at our meeting on December 9. The Courthouse is located in the Federal Building at 300 Ala Moana Blvd. The building takes up the entire block on the corner of Halekauwila Street and Punchbowl Street. There is no public parking at the Federal Building, so you will have to find street parking or parking in one of the lots in that area. If you plan to drop off your Scout, we will have a pick-up spot at the loading zone of Restaurant Row on Pohukaina Street. Please wear class A uniform, bring a photo ID, and minimize things you bring with you as the Federal Building has a security checkpoint similar to that you find in an airport.
